Here you’ll find a list of frequently asked questions. If you have a question which isn’t listed here, please feel free to get in touch.
How can you help me?
We help growing service businesses stay organised, compliant and confident in their finances.
Our services include bookkeeping, payroll, VAT returns, management accounts and support with financial systems and processes.
Most importantly, we provide practical support that helps business owners feel more in control of the financial side of their business.
What type of businesses do you work with?
We specialise in supporting VAT registered, service based limited companies with small teams.
Many of our clients are growing businesses that need better systems, clearer financial information and more proactive support.
My bookkeeping is behind, can you still help?
Absolutely.
Many new clients come to us because their bookkeeping has fallen behind or their business has outgrown its existing processes.
We will assess the current position, create a plan and help you get everything back on track.
What happens if I decide to work with you?
We start with a discovery call to understand your business and the support you need.
If we are a good fit, we arrange a proposal meeting to explore your requirements in more detail before preparing a tailored proposal.
Once accepted, we move into onboarding and begin supporting your business.
How much do bookkeeping services cost?
The cost depends on the size of your business and the level of support you need.
Following our discovery call and proposal meeting, we will provide a tailored proposal with clear pricing.
I want to change my bookkeeper. Is that too much hassle?
Not at all.
We regularly help clients move from another provider and will guide you through the process
Will I have a dedicated contact?
Yes.
You will have a dedicated point of contact who understands your business, supported by the wider Numberwork team when needed.
Do I need a bookkeeper and an accountant?
In most cases, yes.
Bookkeepers and accountants perform different roles and work best together. We focus on day-to-day financial information, while your accountant usually handles accounts preparation and tax planning.
Do you offer payroll services?
Yes.
We provide payroll services for directors and employees, ensuring everything is processed accurately and submitted to HMRC on time.
Can you help with VAT returns?
Yes.
We prepare and submit VAT returns and can help answer VAT related questions as they arise.
Will you remind me about important deadlines?
Yes.
We keep track of key bookkeeping, payroll and VAT deadlines and will let you know when information or action is needed.
Do I need to use Xero or Quickbooks?
Yes.
We work exclusively with Xero and QuickBooks and can support either platform.
If you currently use different software, we can help you move to the solution that is most appropriate for your business.
Using cloud accounting software helps us provide efficient bookkeeping support and gives you better visibility over your financial information.
What software do you use?
We primarily work with Xero and QuickBooks, along with a range of applications that help improve efficiency and streamline bookkeeping processes.
I currently keep my records in spreadsheets. Can I continue to do this?
Possibly, but as businesses grow, cloud accounting software often provides greater accuracy, visibility and efficiency.
We are happy to discuss the options and recommend the best approach for your business.
Can you help me improve my bookkeeping processes?
Absolutely.
Many clients come to us because their systems no longer support the way the business operates. We help improve processes, introduce automation and create more efficient ways of working.
Do you provide management accounts?
Yes.
Management accounts help you understand business performance, profitability, cash flow and upcoming tax liabilities, allowing you to make informed decisions.
Will I have access to my financial information?
Of course.
Your financial information belongs to you and should always be accessible when you need it.
.
How often will we have meetings?
This depends on your business and the support you require.
Some clients prefer monthly meetings, while others need less frequent contact. We will agree a schedule that works for you.
Can you work with my accountant?
Absolutely.
We regularly work alongside accountants and are happy to liaise directly with them whenever needed
Can I do my bookkeeping myself?
Many business owners start out doing their own bookkeeping, but as a business grows it often becomes harder to stay on top of everything consistently.
We believe business owners should focus on running and growing their business rather than worrying about bookkeeping and compliance.
Because accurate bookkeeping underpins everything else we do, we take responsibility for the whole process. We do not offer a service where clients complete their own bookkeeping and we simply check it or submit VAT returns.
This approach allows us to provide the accurate financial information, proactive support and confidence our clients value.
Can you help if I am starting a new business?
Yes.
We can help you choose the right systems, set up bookkeeping processes and create strong financial foundations from the outset.
Do I need to be local to work with you?
No.
We work with clients across the UK using cloud accounting software, email, telephone and video calls.
Many of our clients are local, but location is far less important than finding the right support for your business.
Can I contact you by email, telephone or Whatsapp?
Yes.
We communicate by email, telephone and, where appropriate, WhatsApp. We will agree the best way of working together during onboarding.
Why choose Numberwork Services?
Our clients value proactive support, clear communication and the confidence that comes from knowing their finances are being looked after properly.
We take the time to understand your business and provide practical support that helps you feel organised, informed and in control.
